Literary Criticism

On Moore's death on January 21, Bates commemorates the author as England's "most poetical novelist and one of its most impudent and beautiful story tellers."

He distinguishes Moore as a "pure artist" in contrast to Galsworthy, Shaw, and Wells and notes that Moore's personal style and views were "the greatest obstacle to his work's wider appreciation and popularity."

In New Clarion (February 11, 1933, p. 193, attached).
