Alec norman tony gardner

ALEC NORMAN

Pop’s nemesis! Prissy in a blazer, Alec has class pretensions but is little more than a jumped-up cad in reality. Jealous of Pop's popularity, he can’t stand him and is determined to make him suffer.

Tony Gardner may be familiar to viewers as Brian Johnson from the long-running children's TV sitcom My Parents Are Aliens. Amongst his many other on-screen credits are Lead Balloon, Bluestone 42, Fresh Meat and more recently Last Tango in Halifax.

Norma norman selina griffiths

NORMA NORMAN

Alec Norman's doggedly supportive wife who is also equally prissy, serious and humourless. Norma and Ma rarely see eye to eye.

Selina Griffiths known for her performances in sitcoms, comes from a strong thespian background. Her mother and father are Annette Crosby and Michael Griffiths respectively. Her previous roles on the small screen include The Smoking Room, Psychobitches, Benidorm and Cuckoo

Vicar peter davison

VICAR

Unkempt, potty-mouthed, loves to gossip, drinks and smokes more than the odd ciggie. Not words you'd normally associate with a man of the cloth. Vicar lacks loyalty of any kind, but he's very much part of the village furniture and has his uses.

Peter Davison's acting career has spanned almost half a century. No stranger to the works of H.E. Bates he played the romantic lead, Tom Holland, in the 1977 TV adaptation of Love for Lydia. He's most famous for his roles in All Creatures Great and Small and as the 5th incarnation of Doctor Who.

Pauline jackson natalie mitson

PAULINE JACKSON

Sultry, tanned & tough. Former childhood friend of Mariette – now rivals in both love and life. Pauline serves behind the bar in the Hare and Hound. She rides a Vespa but has the reputation of a man eater!

Played by Natalie Mitson who was recently seen on The Last Bus.

Miss edith pilchester amelia bullmore

MISS EDITH PILCHESTER

Edith, a middle-aged spinster who lives alone at Bonny Banks, serves on endless village committees but is lonely and unfulfilled. She has a tweedy make-do-and-mend look. Feeling the pinch but game for anything, especially if encouraged by Pop, whom she adores.

Manchester University graduate Amelia Bullmore was mainstay Steph Barnes on Coronation Street over a period of almost half a decade. She's also starred in I'm Alan Partridge (as Sonja), Scott & Bailey (which she co-wrote) and Gentleman Jack (as Eliza Priestley).

Miss chand seeta indrani

MISS CHAND

Snobbish, fiery and fierce, Miss Chand is the bossy sister of Brigadier and friend of Norma Norman. To the Larkin children she's the head teacher at the village school. Like Brigadier she was born in India, but unlike him, regrets leaving her homeland.

Seeta Indrani began her career as Cassandra in the original cast of Cats by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Later came the roles for which she is perhaps best known, that of WPC Norika Datta in the long-running police drama, The Bill, (for which she received the AFA Best Actress Award) and Dr. Lily Hassan in Doctors.

Brigadier kriss dosanjh

BRIGADIER

A delightful old stoic, Brigadier is a retired Indian army officer struggling on a pension. He lives with his sister Miss Chand. Sweet yet kind, he has a wicked sense of humour and loves Britain and the British!

Who could forget Kriss Dosanjh as shopkeeper Mr Sandhu in the gritty northern drama This is England. He's also done stints on Eastenders, Emmerdale and Coronation St. (The holy trinity!)

Johnny delamere robert bathurst

JOHNNY DELAMERE

A vain actor with an extensive repertoire of anecdotes. Johnny is the go-to local celebrity but less successful than he imagines himself to be. Comperes the May Day auction, the Straw Man Race and the Gymkhana/Donkey Derby - anything for a free sherry!

Robert Bathurst, what can we say...his self-deprecating, discursive IMDB bio is certainly worth a read! Once feted as a potential James Bond, his credits include Downton Abbey, Cold Feet and as the wonderful Ed Howzer-Black in Toast of London.

PC Harness Barney Walsh

PC Harness

Well-meaning but not very sharp, PC (Headley) Harness is Littlechurch's very own village policeman. He's also Pauline's boyfriend and has gone from a minor character in Series 1 to a pivotal role in Series 2.

Barney Walsh is none other than the son of Bradley Walsh who can be seen starring alongside him in the father and son travelogue Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad.
