A greedy woman plots the death of her invalid husband, as seen through the eyes of her lover, a decent truck-driver who has been innocently drawn into her web.
The story was adapted for television and first aired in 1960 in the series "ITV Television Playhouse," starring Robert Shaw and June Brown. A 1974 film called "Nachtroute Brussel" was based on the story.
The novella was dramatized for BBC Radio in 1972 by Antony Kearey, starring Dennis Waterman. It was once again dramatized for BBC Radio by Gregory Evans in 1985 in a production starring Anton Lesser; however the title is mistakenly given as "Light Run to the West."
In Woman's Day (Australia, November/December 1954, with the title 'Stolen Hours'), Death of a Huntsman/Summer in Salander (1957), The Grapes of Paradise (1974).
