A stirring account with numerous photographs of the Football Association Challenge Cup Final of May 2, 1953, between Blackpool and Bolton Wanderers, decided by a goal from Stanley Matthews in the dying seconds of the game.

Bates sets the stage by describing the special quality of the annual event at Wembley in which any club could compete, "any little David to be drawn in battle with Goliath."
