Subtitled 'a pamphlet for the Royal Air Force', Bates describes in glowing terms the training facilities and curriculums at Halton, Cranwell, and Hawkinge, addressing potential male and female applicants for a wide range of RAF duties.
As no date is found on the typescript and the item appears never to have been published, only an estimate can be assigned based on the date (1949) when RAF Hawkinge became the Woman's Officer Cadet Training Unit. Bates was demobilized in 1945, and thus the piece was not written in an official capacity within the RAF.
A manuscript is held at The Harry Ransom Center in Austin, Texas. (Manuscript Collection MS-00261)
