A comic tale of a scheming and eccentric aunt -- not unlike that of another tale of this period, "The Trespasser" -- involving matchmaking, alcohol, and terrible cooking. Bates would revive the character of Aunt Leonora in the 1968 novella "The Chords of Youth."
