The Larkins Return!
In December 2020 ITV announced that the The Larkin family would be returning to our screens with Bradley Walsh and Joanna Scanlan starring as Pop and Ma Larkin.
The new adaption, by acclaimed screenwriter Simon Nye, aims to capture the warmth, optimism and escapism of The Larkin family for a modern generation. Abigail Wilson (Trollied, Carters Get Rich, Stella) is also on board, writing one of the six episodes.
"I’m thrilled to be asked to be part of this much loved and iconic series of stories. The warmth and affection that H. E Bates has generated through his books is so uplifting and I cannot wait to be part of the Larkin family."
Bradley Walsh
“What better comfort could there be from all we have endured this year than the rolling laughter and outsize hugs of Ma and Pop? It’s going to be an honour to help bring The Larkins to the nation’s devices!"
Joanna Scanlan
The Larkins' is also a dream come true for Ben Farrell, in charge of production and CCO at Objective Fiction, makers of Peep Show, Toast of London, Fresh Meat, Eric, Ernie & Me and Feel Good.
"I’ve loved the Larkins novels for many years and can’t think of a better time to be bringing them back to television." Ben Farrell
